Tarot is growing in popularity as a time-tested practice of divination. People are more open to its wisdom and you do not have to be a professional to give a valuable and accurate reading. People today are overwhelmed with options and choices, having access to more at their fingertips than any other time in human history, making Tarot and the ability to be an oracle even more appealing than ever.
One of the best ways to alleviate the psychic pressure we all feel in today’s information-overload era is offering the clarity and simplicity of the Tarot in casual social situations for friends. The value of this emotional clarity is memorable and can be life-changing for those who feel lost or powerless.
When giving a reading to someone unfamiliar with Tarot, keeping it simple and will be most effective. Here are some simple tips to allow you to really blow your friends’ minds when reading Tarot!
This is when you can do a simple three-card spread. The first card represents their past, the second card represents where they are now, and the third represents the future they are currently projecting towards.
Set your intention to clear the deck and knock on it 3 times to bring your mind fully present to their energy intuitively. Allow your friend to separate the deck into 3 stacks and then shuffle it 7 times (or until it feels as if you’re done shuffling). Then you pull the cards from the top.
Use your knowledge of the cards as well as your intuition as each card comes up. Keep it simple by saying just 1 statement about each card to help keep the reading clear for them (and you!).
Do a simple 3-card spread to show their relationship to their purpose/skill in past, present, and the projection of the future. This will reveal a lot and it will strike a deep chord with them. Still, keep it simple by making just 1 or 2 statements per card so you don’t overwhelm them.
Often, the pictures and language of the Tarot are a lot to take in for people that are new to it. Remember when you first started learning astrology,? It was probably overwhelming not knowing the terms! The more simple you make the reading, the more they will get out of it. You don’t have to try to show off by going overboard.
Read the cards and state any major impressions that come to you without holding back. This can be very revealing about feelings they may not have expressed to anyone and can be very cathartic for them.
Don’t do this as a future prediction, but instead reveal how things have been, where they currently stand in their heart, and how their energy is currently projecting. This is not about reading how the person they are involved with feels, but how the dynamic is affecting your friend. Your role is to help your friend make the best possible decisions and see how their own actions are helping or hindering them.
This is usually different than their purpose as most people arePlus, it’ll give them validation.
The first card you pull represents the situation there is a question about. The second card represents option A, which is decided ahead of time, and the third card represents option B. Sometimes this gives them the validation they’ve felt in their heart or it helps them see it’s not as bad as they’ve built it up to be.
So keep it simple, concise, and direct. Try to stay away from asking the Tarot what other people are thinking or what other people are doing, as this really does not empower your friends to see how they can make good decisions or what they may be allowing into their life that they could shift. Focusing too much on others in a reading doesn’t help the person you’re reading for grow, and it doesn’t give them a tool that they can use to shift their life.
Even though people often think of Tarot as a quick answer, try to avoid giving the impression that Tarot is a quick-fix. The reward of showing a friend an aspect of themselves is a much deeper and more helpful truth than the truth of another human’s thoughts or actions. Just think, if they’ve attracted a person who is disingenuous, it’s more about their own ability to slow down and tune into their intuition than about the other person, right?
If you’re still trying to get a hang of the meanings of the cards, spend a month doing readings for yourself each day and reading the card meanings in the book that comes with the deck and you’ll be surprised how fast you pick it up. We also have a helpful guide you can use!
Remember, if someone needs inspiration or direction, you may open up a whole new world of connection and purpose for them. It’s a big deal and it’s really fun at the same time! It is a gift to offer someone a reading from your heart.
