If your grief is more activated or raw today, that’s okay. Pay close attention to how you talk to yourself through it. The voices that judge you for “still” having a hard time or insist that you “should” feel better by now are just plain wrong. That being said, it’s only by acknowledging these stories that you loosen their grip, deflate their authority, and — at the very least — take them with more grains of salt. So greet those unfair thoughts when they arrive, then remind yourself that you’re doing just fine. Your words can be more healing than you think.
