Venus Squares Jupiter: Remove Your Rose-Colored Glasses
Venus Squares Jupiter: Remove Your Rose-Colored Glasses
Dec 27, 2024 2:25 AM

On April 15th, we have a mouthful of a planetary aspect – Venus in Pisces squares Jupiter in Sagittarius. What does that mean?

What happens when Venus, the planet of love is in the sensitive Water sign of Pisces, but also in a square to optimistic Jupiter in the sign it rules, adventurous Sagittarius?

When Aphrodite and Zeus (Venus and Jupiter in Roman mythology) step on each other’s toes, their home town of Olympus can become a luxury resort of sorts with lavish parties; think designer clothes and a grand red carpet – over the top phenomenon. After all this indulgence, the important question here is: who is going to pay for it all afterwards?

This aspect means we will be wearing some seriously rose-coloured glasses – everything looks bright and hopeful…but we need to make sure we aren’t going overboard, having to pay for it down the road.

Let’s take a look at what this planetary aspect has in store for us. It sounds complicated, but it’s not!

Venus in Pisces & Jupiter in Sagittarius Influences

Venus symbolizes relationships, partnerships, love, money, and values including self-confidence and self-worth. In watery Pisces, she is sensitive, dreamy, sweet, imaginative, soft, romantic, and tends to wear rose-colored glasses… i.e. she’s super optimistic and there’s a bright side to everything.

Jupiter is the planet of good luck, abundance, and expansion, and in Sagittarius, he is at home. Sagittarius, as a Fire sign, is enthusiastic, optimistic, and likes to think bigger. Jupiter in Sagittarius amplifies opportunities, ideas, exploration, and experiences. His current transit is bringing hope and serendipity, dealing with expanding the collective consciousness through learning new truths and through new experiences.

Furthermore, matters related to the law, traveling, and beliefs of all kinds (religious, spiritual, philosophical, etc) are also being addressed. Another key thing to remember is that Jupiter magnifies everything he touches – including the bad stuff. On the other hand, too much of a good thing is also not always beneficial.

The energies of Pisces and Sagittarius are both idealistic, they have expansive natures and detest feeling blocked. They’re concerned with self-growth and development – however – Pisces is more introverted and tends to turn inward, while Sagittarius is more extroverted and action-oriented. They express themselves in a very different manner.

Sagittarius loves to theorize, experience, explore, and learn more about how things are. They are truth seekers. The sign of the Fish is more sensitive energy, in tune with everyone else’s moods and very creative – Pisces is an empathic “feeler”. Their energetic expressions also illustrate their ruler’s differences. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and Pisces, in these modern times, is ruled by Neptune.

The thing to keep in mind is, Jupiter is always within the realm of disciplinarian planet Saturn, and can only expand until it reaches Saturn limitations while Neptune is boundless and can expand indefinitely. We can observe these differences in the symbols these signs represent:

Sagittarius relates with matters confined within the Saturn realm: law, beliefs of religious, philosophical nature, higher studies, etc.

Pisces, on the other hand, operates in the no boundaries realm of Neptune: imagination, artistic expression, spirituality, being one with all, etc.

What Does the Square Aspect Mean?

When Venus squares Jupiter it means indulgence. When Venus in Pisces squares Jupiter in Sagittarius, it means rose-colored glasses on steroids! It’s a period where everything seems greater than great, birds sing, the aroma of the first spring flowers is in the air, the warmth of the sun on the face and… BANG, Saturn hits. Yes, Saturn, reality. Life continues to happen.

The square between Venus and Jupiter makes us want to run away from the nitty-gritty of reality, to avoid dealing with the have-to-do’s, to seek life’s pleasure in any way, shape or form, and this can certainly cause issues!

To make matters even more interesting, Venus and Neptune were conjunct on the 10th of April, where the rose-colored glasses also get blinders. While this is still a very creative and spiritual period of time, and quite beneficial for all creative projects, it’s also s time we are more prone to illusions and delusions: use your intuition and good judgment on events involving relationships and your finances to avoid jumping the gun.

As Venus is now approaching Jupiter, she has just been in lalaland with Neptune and is having trouble grounding herself. Jupiter may very well increase this sense of “ungroundedness.” With Venus square Jupiter we are not in the mood to work or to deal with responsibilities. It’s rather a time for fun and games and work is left on the back burner. There is a lack of self-discipline and self-control while there is a tendency to do everything in excess.

What Should We Do?

Thus, this is a good time to socialize and to have fun but be careful of having blind faith, of being overly flirtatious, overly confident, of overeating, of shopping sprees and other excesses. Try to not be way too carefree if reality calls you to be your level-headed self.

Since the square happens between Venus in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius, we have those rose-colored glasses on steroids, our heads are in the clouds and there is a real tendency for escapist behaviors. There is also susceptibility to deceptions, delusions, and illusions; beware of sweet talk and putting others on a pedestal.

Nevertheless, it’s a great time to turn inwards and dedicate yourself to things like meditation, spiritual practices, and other creative endeavors as well as focusing on self-care, spending time outdoors and connecting with nature.

At a time when the world seems to go through a detox therapy and we have to see and deal with all the exposed “uglies,” a few days to spoil ourselves are well deserved. Just remember the key is always about moderation.

Then, let’s say, instead of dressing in designer clothes, partying non-stop and flirting with all the Gods, Venus decides to retreat to an extravagant Olympus spa for some self-pampering time before she gets back to business. After all, that’s a good investment in herself!
